Find, save and organize
A few everyday tools help you keep a growing story manageable. Use search to find content, preview replacements before applying them, and distinguish saving your work from exporting a copy or sending changes to your team.
Search the whole project
Open project search, enter warehouse and narrow the results by content type or language. Select a result to open the matching scene, dialogue or resource. The search in the canvas toolbar only searches the current scene; use project search when you do not know where something lives.
Ctrl + Shift + F
Preview text replacements
- In project search, open Replace, enter the replacement and request a preview.
- Review the affected fields and before/after examples before applying.
- Try replacing a phrase in your own copy of The Harbour Key.
- If the project changes after the preview, generate a fresh preview.
- Check affected translations and use Undo if the result is not what you intended.
Save, export and share
Settings contains options for automatic saving after an idle period and when leaving an editing context. Choose when VNLE should save and check the save status before closing. Saving updates the local project. A ZIP export creates a separate copy; team synchronization sends or receives changes through GitHub. None of these replaces the other two.
Ctrl + S
Organize characters and scenes
Use the chapter or scene move grip to drag it or choose a destination. This changes project order, not story connections. Under Characters, select Mira to edit her portrait and expressions; choose the expression on a dialogue node. Character groups help organize the list. The gallery guide explains image assignments and categories.
Choose language and appearance
Open Settings at the bottom left to choose the interface language and appearance. The interface language does not translate your story. Manage story translations under Localization, then choose a language in Play to check the result. Undo and Redo let you review changes to your project; save the state you want to keep.
